The Google search terms "flamenco dancer Chicago area" ultimately led me to the owner of these comfortable shoes by Rieker. Last year at this time, I signed up to help organize Multicultural Day at my son's elementary school. With Spain as our classroom's assigned country, I was bound and determined to find a flamenco dancer. Why watch a video when you can have a real live FLAMENCO DANCER??
One link led to another and I finally discovered the talented and fabulous Karen Stelling; teacher and choreographer at the Flamenco Art Center in Chicago. Karen had those kids stomping their feet, clapping their hands, and twirling about the room to shouts of "Ole!" Even the boys were eager to participate. Bien hecho, Karencita, bien hecho.
Recently Karen sent me a few shoe reviews that I'd like to share with you. Her new shoe are made by Rieker, a German company founded by Mr. Heinrich Rieker in 1845. Rieker footwear features lightweight Antistress soles, cushioned footbeds and a roomier toe box than most dress shoes.
1. Rieker Federica D7506 pictured above: These shoes are totally faboo. The style is "Federica" and the color is "kombi" or a combination of black with brown highlights. I love the look of them, perhaps because they remind me of flamenco shoes! The cut-outs are great and the strap has a snap closure with grommet features. They are quite comfortable and the heel is a great height for skirts, dresses and trousers as well. It's also a comfortable height. I'm very over ! I love that they go with either black or brown outfits. The price on these babies is $120. I expect they will last for the rest of my natural born days!!! Available at Zappos for $119 or OnlineShoes.com for $114.95
2. Rieker Mirjam 43787: I have another pair of Rieker's that are too cool. I picked them up on the first shopping excursion earlier this year. They are called, "Mirjam" and are primarily beige but they pull a lot of grey with tiny little purple insets which are tres cool. The cost is $129. All off these were purchased at The Golden Shoe in Niles, IL.
