ZOMG those are GORGEOUS! The heel does look very high but if the front platform is 1.5 inches and the heel is 4 inches then it ends up being the equivalent of a 2.5 inch heel which isn't bad at all!

To keep your foot from sliding forward in a shoe, put a small non-slip pad in the ball-of-foot area. That's how shoe salesmen back in the day would miraculously fix a heel slippage or toe crunching problem.
