Check out Fly London wedges at Nordstrom or Kork-ease as well.

Don't forget about Birkenstock Mayari, Gizeh, Kairo, Adria to name a few - available in lots of places. I know this sole doesn't work for everyone but it's a rigid sole and it's been a life-saver for me. Recommended by my podiatrist who said it is very similar to the kind of insole he would prescribe. And many Birkenstock styles come in different widths. And some styles, such as the ones above, come in pretty and fun colors too.

I don't *need* a rigid sole sandal, but my feet can definitely go much longer when I wear one. My Sanitas are the best investment I've made -- they are cute and stylish, extraordinarily comfortable, and I always get compliments.

I love my Alegrias. Just wanted to say thank you as I have been reading all of your archives and since we are going to be doing a lot of walking...ordered two new pairs of Ahnu. The Zen and the Karma. You have no idea how much I appreciate this site!! THANK YOU!! xo Jeanne

I love my Birkenstocks, but I find mine do bend just a little at the forefoot and can cause pain on a bad toe day. But I spend many of my summer days in my Granadas ;-)

Hi Jeanne,

THank you so much for the nice comments!

I love Sanita!

Yep, you're right! Love them both.

I have many of the same problems as your reader. Here are my recommendations, arrived at through quite a bit of trial and error--

Tsubo Olisa, Ovid, and Asmik
Tsubo Olivette (just ordered -- can't confirm or deny yet!)
Dansko Thea and Tandy
Alegria Daisy (fabulous but discontinued)
Naot wedges (like Peace)
Haflinger cork sandals (for short periods)

I can't recommend the flat Naots or Birkenstocks -- too much flexibility at the big toe joint.

Can anyone recommend a shoe for high arches, rigid sole with cushioning?

Correction! I recommend Dansko Thea and Tasha (Tandy is a great WINTER shoe).

I want a cute flat that has arch support and metatarsal support, something with about a 1" heel, no more. I've seen a lot of cute laser cut flats, but have not seen recommendations. Would appreciate some.
As far as Birkenstock, they are perfect for me, but I find I need an ankle strap. I had ankle surgery several years ago, and I still need that support around the ankle. I cannot recall the original name of Birkenstocks, and I don't know if they are still around.
